President Trump scolded North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Saturday, tweeting that he tries “so hard to be his friend.”

THE DETAILS:

“Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me ‘old,’ when I would NEVER call him ‘short and fat?'” The president tweeted.

“Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend – and maybe someday that will happen!”

Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me “old,” when I would NEVER call him “short and fat?” Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend – and maybe someday that will happen!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 12, 2017

IN CONTEXT:

Trump’s tweet appeared to be a response to the latest round of hard-hitting rhetoric from the North Korean leader, who resorted to calling Trump names over his recent trip to Asia.
